A man was arrested early Friday morning after exchanging fire with policy in the lobby of the Trump National Doral Miami resort.

Investigators were still piecing together how Mr. Oddi entered the Trump complex in the first place, but Mr. Perez said officials believed that the suspect had removed an American flag from a pole on the property and brought it into the hotel's marble-floored lobby at about 1:30 a.m.

A man who was allegedly yelling "anti-Trump sentiment" was shot early on Friday after exchanging gunfire with police near President Donald Trump's Florida golf club, according to reports.

Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez said Oddi tried to lure police into a gunfight.

"Our officers responded with the assistance of Miami-Dade [Police Department]", said Doral Police Chief Hernan Organvidez.

The president's son, Eric Trump, took to Twitter to thank the police for quickly taking down the threat. Police said he fired a handgun at the roof and chandelier of the hotel.

So far, the suspect has not been identified, and his motive is unknown. "He had an American flag that he did drape over the counter".

"We are a very safe community", he said. According to CBS4 News in Miami.
