The Cleveland Cavaliers have begun to behave as though they expect LeBron James to leave this offseason.

Looking ahead at free agency, there are quite a few reports that have connected James and George.

San Antonio initially rebuffed Los Angeles when it came to a potential Kawhi Leonard trade, but the Spurs and Lakers have reportedly restarted the talks.

Brian Windhorst also said during his ESPN Cleveland radio appearance that there are only four people who know what James is going to do and those people are not talking.

The price for Leonard would be substantial.

For the Lakers, it's a dicey position, offering some of their young core players and future draft picks, knowing it would rid them of their depth if they do land a super-team or harm their future if they land Leonard, but not George or James.

Second, if he doesn't pan out, at worst he could be a "placeholder" to preserve their cap space so that they could give it another try next summer when Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker, among others, may be free agents.

This week, the National Basketball Association named James Harden as the league's Most Valuable Player for the first time in his career, making him one of two guys to have ever won the MVP after winning the 6th man of the year award during their career. George ironically was in a similar position as Leonard - entering the final year of his contract and openly telling teams his preference was to be traded to the Lakers. That means that we can finally turn all of our attention to free agency, which is slated to begin July 1. So with the recent rumor surrounding Philadelphia being one of the teams that has already made an offer to San Antonio, here are three questions to consider surrounding the latest trade report involving Leonard.

The race for Leonard is on, and if the Spurs play their hand wisely, an ugly situation could end up with them bringing in a haul of assets to jumpstart a rebuild.
