Syrian state media reported that the Syrian air defenses in the border areas intercepted some of the Israeli missiles fired in, stopping attacks in the village of Hader, and ensuring the attack caused only material damage.

A Syrian drone infiltrated Israeli airspace Wednesday and was shot down by a Patriot missile fired by IDF aerial defense units in the north of Israel.

Syrian military positions were targeted early on Thursday after an unmanned drone entered Israeli airspace from Syria the day before.

The military said it will "continue to operate determinedly and decisively against any attempt to breach Israeli sovereignty and will act against any attempt to hurt its civilians".

Israel has threatened to open fire at any Syrian government forces that try to deploy in a demilitarised Golan buffer zone set up under a 1974 United Nations -monitored armistice.

There were no immediate reports of casualties, it said.

According to Haaretz, the drone was tracked after it went about 6 miles into Israeli territory.

Israel will not dismiss the possibility of future relations with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman said on Tuesday.

On Sunday, Syria accused Israel of attacking an air force base near Homs that was known to be housing Iranian forces.

Israel has warned Iran, which is allied with the Syrian government, against building up a military presence on its doorstep.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated that warning during a visit to Moscow for talks with Vladimir Putin. Israel worries Assad could let his Iranian allies entrench near its lines or that Syrian forces may defy a 1974 Golan demilitarisation. Israel has launched a campaign against, what it claims, to be Iranian targets in Syria in recent months.

"We made a decision to bring with us two wonderful children who are bravely fighting cancer: Mika, whom my wife and I have known for nine years, and Alon, whose parents emigrated from Russian Federation and who likes soccer very much". We will discuss Syria, Iran and Israel's security needs.
