Nawaz and Maryam, convicted by an anti-graft court in Islamabad on July 6, were sentenced to 10 and seven years, respectively, in the Avenfield reference.

"Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz have the right to appeal", he said. Such opportunity won't come again.

Meanwhile, the interior government and NAB said that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz would be arrested at the airport, said the interim government on Thursday.

Quoting Dunya News, Newsweek Pakistan reported that Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz will be held in Adiala Jail for one day and then be imprisoned in Attock Jail.

In case of inclement weather in Lahore, his flight could be diverted to Islamabad.

Their return could shake up an election race marred by claims Pakistan's powerful military was skewing the contest in favour of ex-cricket hero Imran Khan.

Before leaving for Pakistan from London, Maryam, said: "It is the most hard decision of our lives because my mother is on the ventilator and we don't know what happens next, their is no pain like that of leaving your mother behind in such situation but there's a national duty and we must make this important journey".

"Nawaz really believes this is about democracy and his legacy", Musadik Malik, Sharif ally and former PML-N cabinet minister, told Reuters.

Border Patrol agents reportedly stop Canadians in disputed waters
But both Canadian and American fishermen said they noticed increased activity in harbors and in the Atlantic in early June. The State Department did not respond to a request for comment. "Absolutely overkill", he said of the "disturbing" stops.

Security has also been beefed up in the provincial capital ahead of PML-N leaders arrival.

Kulsoom Nawaz, whose health has been described as "highly critical" by doctors, has been undergoing treatment at the Harley Street Clinic in London.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has already announced that the father-daughter duo will be arrested as soon as their aircraft lands in Lahore and will be sent to Islamabad on a helicopter.

Sharif has been banned from participating in politics, and his brother Shahbaz Sharif now heads his Pakistan Muslim League and is fighting for re-election on July 25.

Party officials say the police have started a crackdown against them, detaining hundreds of workers in the early hours on Friday.

More than 300 PML-N's workers have reportedly been rounded up from different parts of Lahore.

The military, which has ruled the nuclear-armed country for nearly half its history and ended Sharif's second stint in power in 1999 in a bloodless coup, denies involvement. "We can't let them roam around in Lahore".
