His toughness with Vladimir Putin in question, President Donald Trump declared on Wednesday he had told the Russian leader face to face to stay out of America's elections "and that's the way it's going to be".

Putin has denied the allegations.

The White House believes that the threat from Russian Federation still exists.

But White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders says Trump was saying "no" to answering more questions, although he did go on to answer an additional question. "He does believe that they [Russia] would target U.S. elections again".

But during his CBS chat on Wednesday, Trump went as far as saying he personally confronted Putin when they met in Helsinki.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has taken the lead in working with all the 50 states, local governments and private companies to improve election security. I worked for the government for five years.

The DHS plans to provide on-site risk and vulnerability assessments to all states that request it.

Federal officials ultimately determined that at least 18 states had their election systems targeted in some fashion, and possibly up to 21 found scanning of their networks for possible vulnerabilities, according to a report issued by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence in May.

In March, Congress provided the Election Assistance Commission with Dollars 380 million in funding for election assistance grants to states.

Sanders noted that Trump and his officials believe the Russian threat "still exists, which is why we are taking steps to prevent it".

Sanders called the legislation "hypothetical" and declined to say whether the president would back it.

Trump tweeted: "Some people HATE the fact that I got along well with President Putin of Russian Federation".

"We won't be able, as a nation, to fight back against foreign interference in our elections if the Commander in Chief doesn't even acknowledge that it's a real problem", Schumer said in a statement.

"Just because that somebody was simply red-headed, they were accused of being some sort of spy for Russian Federation".

I think it's rare, though, for someone to say "would be" when he means "wouldn't be".

"Everything is remaining. We're not lifting sanctions", Trump said. This is the reason why he has spent so much time with his administration making sure that this doesn't happen again.

"I've had it. There is some s*** I will not eat", one state-level Republican party operative told Sexton, who is the author of an acclaimed book on the 2016 presidential election, The People Are Going to Rise Like the Waters Upon Your Shore: A Story of American Rage. Many positive things will come out of that meeting.

The Trump administration, she said, is trying a new approach on its relationship with Russian Federation.

Sen. Lindsay Graham, R-South Carolina, said on Twitter that there is a "BIG discrepancy" between Trump's statement and warning by Coats.

Coats said last week that Russian Federation has been the most aggressive cyberthreat but other efforts are coming from China, Iran and North Korea as well as criminal networks and individual hackers. "We continue to urge Russian authorities to work with the U.S. Department of Justice to pursue those in Russia who in fact perpetrated the fraudulent scheme that Russia refers to that targeted not only Mr. Browder, but also his company and. the Russian people as a whole". Trump replied, "Thank you very much. No".

"[Trump] wants to create a more stable world, a more peaceful world".
