Everton successfully fend off challenges from league rivals Manchester United and French outfit Lyon, who too expressed interest in signing Mina.

It is said Mina will sign a five-year deal with the Merseyside giants with negotations between both parties sorted swiftly.

Manchester United are finally set to sign Tottenham centre back Toby Alderweireld for around £60m in the coming days, after the two clubs made a breakthrough in negotiations over the weekend.

Columbian defender, Yerry Mina, finds himself in a disadvantaged position as suitors dried up and his potential move to Manchester United fell apart. He was one of the best performers for Columbia in that tournament and even came close to breaking England hearts when he scored a last-minute equaliser against them to force the game into extra time.

However, The Sun are reporting that Mina's agent, Felipe Russo, has scuppered the proposed move to United by altering the terms of the deal.

Everton has now completed their third major signing of the season having already captured Richarlison and Lucas Digne.

Barca now have six centre-backs in their squad and only three - Gerard Pique, Samuel Umtiti and new signing Clement Lenglet - appear guaranteed to be at the club when the season begins.

Everton are understood to have been interested in Mina since his star performances for Colombia at the World Cup. The Belgian, formerly of Atletico Madrid, could join United within 48 hours.

Mina is set to cost around £30million - less than half the price of Alderweireld and Maguire, and he will represent a big profit for Barca who only paid Palmeiras £10million for him in January.
