State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said Pompeo will meet with Kim in Pyongyang on October 7.

Nauert also emphasized on the call for a discussion between the two countries saying that it shows forward progress and momentum that the United Nations secretary is making his fourth trip back in less than a year. She added that it shows the USA president's commitment to the agreement that he and Chairman Kim made at the Singapore summit.

Earlier Tuesday, North Korea's official propaganda ministry accused the US of "trying to subdue" it through sanctions, indicating that the Kim regime could see lifting such sanctions as a key bargaining chip in any talks over the future of North Korea's nuclear program.
She said that in the meantime, sanctions would remain in place.
The meeting between Pompeo and Kim may also chart a possible second meeting between the two leaders. At the time, Trump said there hadn't been enough progress on denuclearization.
"Without any trust in the USA there will be no confidence in our national security and under such circumstances, there is no way we will unilaterally disarm ourselves first", Ri said.
Earlier that day, North Korea's Ri struck a different tone, telling the United Nations that continued US sanctions were deepening Pyongyang's mistrust in the United States and there was no way the country would disarm unilaterally under such circumstances.
North Korea's state newspaper Rodong Sinmun called the sanctions "rude" in light of its conciliatory measures.
However, three senior USA officials involved in North Korea policy previously told Reuters that no progress has been made in moving towards serious negotiations on eliminating or even halting Mr Kim's nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programmes.
