Singer Selena Gomez is reportedly seeking treatment after recently suffering an emotional breakdown. TMZ learned that the 26-year-old "was despondent and emotional over an alarmingly low white blood cell count in the wake of her kidney transplant".

Justin Bieber's ex-girlfriend was reportedly released from a local Los Angeles hospital, but was readmitted days later because her blood cell count remained low, sending her into an emotional crisis.

Gomez was then taken to an East Coast psychiatric facility, where she is now receiving dialectical behaviour therapy - an evidence-based psychotherapy created to help people suffering from borderline personality disorder.

Selena Gomez has reportedly re-entered a mental health facility after an emotional breakdown linked to her ongoing health issues.

Gomez addressed her diagnosis for the first time in a 2015 interview with Billboard, explaining that she'd previously taken a break from the spotlight to focus on treatment. "Kindness and encouragement only for a bit!" "I could've had a stroke", said Gomez of her break in a Billboard cover story.

Gomez has been out of the public eye for some time, with not much information about her available for weeks. "She knows it's something she will be facing for the rest of her life, but she's committed to tackling her issues head on", an insider told the outlet.

The Bad Liar hitmaker tried to leave shortly afterwards but was told she couldn't, prompting Selena to have a "melt down" and "freak out" as she tried ripping drips out of her arm. She is supposedly receiving dialectical behavior therapy there.

Later, she said what helps is being "really, really kind to myself".

"The thought of asking someone to do that was really hard for me".

She had to get a transplant due to her lupus and announced the news in a September 2017 Instagram post.

In an interview with ET Online, a source said that Justin Bieber was "very upset" when he heard the news about Selena, whom he dated on and off for years. Past year she had undergone a major surgery for the kidney transplant.
