An American astronaut and a Russian cosmonaut had to go for an emergency landing after their Soyuz rocket malfunctioned during a flight to the ISS. In this frame from video from NASA TV, NASA astronaut Nick Hague, who survived the Oct. 11, 2018, failed launch and emergency landing, speaks Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018, from the NASA Johnson Space Center. By that time, the Russian space agency expects that, they will be able to find the answers and resume the, now halted, space missions and launch schedules.

"I was supposed to be doing a spacewalk two days from now", he said.

During the launch of the Russian spacecraft Soyuz MS-10 on october 11, the carrier rocket crashed and the crew consisting of Russian cosmonaut Alexei Ovchinin and US astronaut Nick Hague made an emergency landing.

Earlier, Russian State Space Corporation Roscosmos said that Ovchinin and Hague would fly to the ISS in spring 2019, while the exact date would be specified later.

"We knew that if we wanted to be successful, we needed to stay calm and we needed to execute the procedures in front of us as smoothly and efficiently as we could", Hague told The Associated Press from Houston.

Hague said he and Ovchinin, his commander, were flung from side to side and shoved back hard into their seats, as the drama unfolded 50 kilometres (31 miles) above Kazakhstan last Thursday.

Saudi Arabia strikes back at United States over political rhetoric, threatens oil stability
There's now some doubt about whether US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will attend the Riyadh conference. Turning a blind eye to the human rights abuses of Saudi Arabia is no way of "changing the world".

They landed on the smooth, flat terrain of Kazakhstan. "After the main chute opens, there is a valve that helps equalize us with the outside ambient air pressure and so you feel pressure changes in your ear on descent, just like you might feel in a commercial airliner coming in for landing", he said.

Hague says he and his crewmate grinned at touchdown, shook hands and then joked about their short flight.

His emotions bubbled up once he was reunited with his wife, their two young sons and his parents, back at the launch site.

Hague said he has no clue as to when he'll get a second shot, but is ready as soon as he gets the go-ahead. Immediately afterward, an investigation into the incident was launched in Russian Federation.

According to Roscosmos executive director for manned flights Sergei Krikalyov, cited by Russian news agency TASS, problems began when the first stage of the rocket impacted the second one during separation.
