Ex-Fox News anchor to be new U.S. ambassador to the UN

Reports Trump Will Pick Heather Nauert to Be UN Ambassador Trump reportedly picks Heather Nauert to be UN ambassador

President Donald Trump has chose to nominate State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert to replace departing United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, according to three people familiar with the decision.

Nauert's nomination had been rumoured for weeks, and she had started handing over some of her responsibilities as spokeswoman to her deputy, Robert Palladino.

It was reported in November that Nauert had been offered the job, but it was not clear at the time whether she had accepted.

While the senator acknowledged that Nauert does have State Department experience, he pointed out that "she has no experience as a diplomat", also arguing that she beings to the table "no meaningful experience in the government".

If confirmed, she would replace outgoing ambassador, Nikki Haley, who is set to leave the post at the end of the year.

Perhaps feeling some affinity for another TV star with limited political experience, Bloomberg claims that Trump will chose ex-Fox & Friends star Heather Nauert as the US' next ambassador to the United Nations.

Fed's Powell, in apparent dovish shift, says rates near neutral
Powell and other Fed officials have since sounded a bit more cautious, nodding to a slowdown in Europe, Japan and China. It was a "rookie mistake, " Omair Sharif, senior US economist at Societe Generale, said Wednesday in a note to clients.

When she announced her decision to step down the president called her a "very special person" and said she had told him some months before that she wanted to take some time off.

He added: "She's excellent, she's been with us a long time, she's been a supporter for a long time, really - excellent".

That means Nauert would wield less clout than her predecessor, both at the United Nations and within the administration, and as a result, would pose nowhere near the challenge to national security adviser John Bolton, White House chief of staff John Kelly or Pompeo. She oversaw public diplomacy in Washington and all of the roughly 275 overseas US embassies, consulates and other posts.

During Pompeo's tenure, she has been able to travel on official trips - something Tillerson blocked her from doing - and rose to temporarily hold the position of acting under secretary for public diplomacy and public affairs.

Nauert would take up the USA mantle at the United Nations including holding sanctions on North Korea and defending Israel.

One of the reports came from Fox News, where Ms Nauert has previously worked as a presenter.
