Derek Carr Calls Raiders' 2019 Location Uncertainty 'Weird'

Oakland Raiders team owner Mark Davis has warned the team could move in 2019 if sued by the city over a planned relocation to Las Vegas City of Oakland files federal antitrust and breach of contract lawsuit against NFL, Raiders, 31 other teams

The NFL has not directly commented on the lawsuit. The 45-page complaint alleges that a $378 million relocation fee paid by the Raiders enriched the 31 other clubs and thus "skewed the bidding process".

Davis has called the lawsuit "meritless and malicious", according to ESPN.

Per a press release sent out by the National Football League, the 2020 NFL Draft has been awarded to a city without a team-at least a current one. The Raiders' lease at the Coliseum ends at the conclusion of this season.

"The Raiders' move - and the bidding process which preceded it - violated not only the antitrust laws, but also the NFL's own relocation policies", the lawsuit states.

The team does not know where it will play in 2019, though it had proposed a lease to remain in the Oakland Coliseum for one more season, prior to the lawsuit being filed.

"The Raiders' illegal move lines the pockets of National Football League owners and sticks Oakland, its residents, taxpayers and dedicated fans with the bill", Oakland city attorney Barbara Parker said in a statement.

"The Raiders are very excited for Las Vegas and are proud to help host the 2020 NFL Draft", said Raiders owner Mark Davis. This is the result of a comprehensive evaluation process over the past several months of plans submitted by various cities to host the 2020 NFL Draft. "The goal of this lawsuit is to hold the defendants accountable and help to compensate Oakland for the damages the defendants' unlawful actions have caused and will cause to the people of Oakland".

Per the Washington Post, Davis said he's not a fan of the idea of his team playing on artificial turf at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

"I'm thrilled we are taking action to help protect our taxpayers", Kaplan said in an email. Other options home for the Raiders in 2019 include San Diego, Reno and moving to Vegas one year early.

The 2016 Raiders had the 6th best rushing attack, the 2nd most turnovers forced on defense, and Derek Carr was in the conversation for league MVP.
