US House to probe abuse of power & corruption by Donald Trump

Nadler: Judiciary Panel to Request Docs From 60+ Entities Tied to Trump in Probe of 'Obstruction of Justice, Corruption, and Abuse of Power' US House panel launches probe into possible obstruction by Donald Trump

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee - which has jurisdiction over impeachments - said Sunday that he believes President Donald Trump obstructed justice and his panel will issue document requests on Monday to dozens of people tied to Trump, including members of his family, business empire, and administration.

In a letter to the White House, the committee asks for information surrounding former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey's termination, communications with Justice Department officials, the Trump Tower meeting and multiple other matters.

He pointed to the several instances when Trump has attacked the ongoing investigation as a "witch hunt".

In their letters, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.), Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot L. Engel (D-N.Y.) and Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah E. Cummings (D-Md.) made note of media reports that Trump has sought to hide the details of his communications with Putin.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders on Monday acknowledged receipt of the committee's request. "As a result, we are now expanding our investigation".

"All the people on the list have given information already", Nadler said, either to Special Counsel Robert Mueller for his probe of alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election or to federal prosecutors for the Southern District of NY in their corruption probe. "It's very clear that the president obstructed justice".

With the Senate firmly secured in the Republican Party's favor, relying on "bipartisan" agreement between House Dems and Senate Republicans is all but a death knell to impeachment efforts.

US disrupted Russian trolls on day of November election
The country already said it would be more active if Russian Federation were to try to influence the American elections again. Since those indictments, the breadth of the troll farm's activities have come to light.

Comey was leading an investigation into Russian activities in the 2016 US presidential election and possible collusion with Trump's campaign when the president fired him in May 2017.

"There's nowhere to go with this; they know that an impeachment either leads to defeat... or success, which is going to give them [US Vice President Mike] Pence", he added.

Aside from the White House, the panel sent its requests for documents to the Justice Department; senior campaign officials; the Trump Organization, the president's global business empire, and his two oldest sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump. "I cooperate all the time with everybody", he told reporters.

President Donald Trump says he'll cooperate with the House Judiciary Committee's sweeping investigation into his White House, campaign and businesses.

The investigation was subsequently taken over by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is expected to end his investigation and report his findings to Attorney General William Barr in coming weeks. They include former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn, former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former Trump adviser Roger Stone and Cohen.

These may include Don McGahn, the former White House counsel, and John Kelly, Trump's former chief of staff.

Trump used the Bison players in his statement about cooperating with investigators - and his latest swipe at the many investigations he is facing.
