Cook County Sheriff's Office tells TMZ that R. Kelly's headed to jail for failure to pay child support. His hands weren't cuffed.
Kelly was detained by the Cook County sheriff in IL and will be transported to the county jail on Wednesday evening, sheriff's department spokesperson Sophia Ansari told NPR.
Kelly was charged with 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse involving four women, including three who were underage at the time. Her response saw her lash out at her parents and everyone else who firmly believes that the "Bump N' Grind" singer is, in fact, guilty of sexual assault.
Later in the week, the network will air an interview with Azriel and Joycelyn and a teaser clip saw the younger woman scream at Gayle as she defended Kelly.
If convicted, he faces three to seven years in prison on each charge.
Sheriff's office spokeswoman Sophia Ansari says Kelly was taken into custody Wednesday during a hearing over the child support and that his next hearing is scheduled for next Wednesday.
In the latest charges, prosecutors allege Kelly tried to force oral sex on his 24-year-old hairdresser in 2003 - while he was free on bond on the then-pending child pornography charges.
The new underage sex allegation out of Detroit came just hours after the R&B singer cried and ranted about being "assassinated" by the sex abuse allegations during an interview with CBS This Morning'sGayle King. He saidKelly will remain jailed until he can pay the full amount, and said he hopes Kelly will be released by next Wednesday.
The 52-year-old recording artist has been trailed for decades by allegations that he violated underage girls and women and held some as virtual slaves.
"He also indicated that these parents came forward after the money stopped", the attorney said about Kelly in a press conference on Wednesday.
Kelly's attorney, Steve Greenberg, was in court but did not comment.
